    Adding DE to Cartridge filter

I read somewhere online awhile ago that you can add DE to a cartridge filter. Is this possible/recommended or will it do damage to the cartridge?

Re: Adding DE to Cartridge filter

Some cartridge filters are compatible with DE. You would need to check to see if the specific filter model is compatible. Adding DE to a standard cartridge filter will clog it up.

Use very little de. this is mainly to help with later cleaning of the cartridge. Not really to help with filtering. I practice this. and have not had any real difference in the clarity of water either way, i do it for the ease of cleaning.
