When to backwash question

I have been reading that you should backwash when the filter pressure rises 8-10 PSI-

I have a Pentair FNS 60 and have been running the pump it 10-12 hours a day for about three months and have had the PSI increase by 1. I have an 18,000 gallon pool and not much dirt gets into the pool. Do I just wait the many months it will take to increase by the 8-10 PSI or should I do it every month or so as suggested by the pool store

If it's making you nervous (and your pressure isn't increasing) just backwash once a month it won't hurt anything (and technically may be good for the filter to have the moving parts move once a while)
