Hi,
I'm one week into BBB and my chlorine usage has been very light. My FC has only been dropping .5 ppm per day. Is this normal? The water is still 64 degrees and it hasn't been used as of yet. My CYA is around 65-70 so i am trying to keep my FC at approx 7-8 ppm. I added 1 qt of 12% on Friday which brought it up to 9 ppm FC and have needed no additions since then. On a side note, there are 2 pool companies near here that recommend FC of 1-3ppm. Why does that seem to be the consensus of pool companies? Just curious.

Low chlorine usage is common when the water is cold, especially at your slightly high CYA level. Chlorine usage will increase as the water warms up.

Keeping FC between 1 and 3 is an old rule from before CYA was used. Adding CYA to the water dramatically changes where your FC level should be.
