I have a project of fixing an old waterfall that has stopped working for some time now. It is 6 feet high wall and about 30" wide. The container itself was made from steel and was fully rusted, the pump that was running it had a 1HP and it is seized stuck. (looks like it leaked through the shaft and killed the bearing to a complete seize.
So, my plan is to buy a new 36" Oasis Rainfores water fall (http://www.inyopools.com/pool_waterfall ... orest.aspx)
I will need to buy a new pump as it is not worth fixing the existing old pump. The old pump had a 1.5" line coming from the pool side wall about 2-3 feet down from water line. Also in the basin, there is a 2" pipe that simply removes the water back into the pool by means of gravity such that a level of water is always maintained in the waterfall basin.
While I'm there, I would like to add deck jets from Jandy (http://www.poolsupplyworld.com/poolwate ... -deckJets/)
Now, The waterfall needs about 15GPM, and the jets need about 5GPM each. A jet also has 11 feet of head. The top of the waterfall is 6' from basin and pump would be installed just on the back wall of the waterfall.
I figure that the best approach would be to get a 2 speed pump like Jandy FHPM1.0-2 (https://americanbestpoolsupply.com/detail/11162.htm)
My reasoning is that with the low speed it would pretty much provide me with the 15GPM for the water fall. And if I would want to turn on the jets too, i will cycle the pump t high speed and that will get me the needed 40-45GPM @about 50-60 feet of head (most created by 4x11 of the jets plus about 30-40 feet of pipe)
If you guys did something similar or see where I'm wrong, please let me know, i would really appreciate some help here from experts as I'm really a beginner here...
