    Antibacterial cartridges fact or myth

So I am on a no win battle with my pool as one of 2 of my carts is bad and I need a new one. Question: I saw some carts that are more $ that tote "antibacterial" is this something that would be worth the extra$ or just an expensive colored cart? Anyone use one?

myth - keep chlorine in your pool and you have no need - regardless that they may or may not work.

Is it antibacterial or antimicrobial? Either way, as Dave said, proper chlorination is going to take care of anything you need to get rid of, so just a waste of money IMO.

Not often that we disagree. To those that remove their cartridges for the winter or store a spare set, those cartidges with Microban will be less susceptible to molds and fungi when stored for the 1st year. There after, YMMV.

The guide says it helps to keep the algae you are filtering from setting into the cartridge and allows for better cleaning and longer cart life, its not for sanitizing, sorry I was unclear on my last post. bacterial or microbial not sure I would need to look again. I just know I need at least one more cart to get me through this swamp and if there is one with a median that enhances cart life....would be good if it works.
