How to check for leak on suction side of pump

Just installed a new pump (epump) the water isn't filling up all the way on the pump which is making me wonder if I have a suctions side leak from where I repiped. How can I check for a leak? When I turn the pump off I don't see water come from the joints. and I haven't checked to see if I am loosing prime yet. Thanks

One way to check for leaks on the suction side is to run a garden hose over the pipes, moving it around slowly from place to place. If the pump basket suddenly fills up, there is a leak in the area the garden hose is pouring water on.
