Is stabilizer ppm dependent on chlorine level? In other words, will stabilizer test low if there is a lot of chlorine in the pool? Right now there is a LOT (5ppm+) of free chlorine in in the pool after opening. I tested the stabilizer level and it was low. I added 4 lbs (1 lb/5k gal) of stabilizer (CYA) and today, after it is all dissolved and circulated the reading is still low. Should I add more stabilizer or wait a while?? Thanks.

It can take several days to a week for stabilizer to dissolve and circulate. Don't add more unless you are sure you need it. The test is not affected by the chlorine level.
