new hayward sand filters

All of those filters, top mount multi-port or side mount multi-port, have an opening in the top of about 8" diameter. The side mounts have a separate small black lid covering this opening. You have to do everything through that hole. It can be quite a pain sometimes, but it works.

No, but repair is a job for someone with long skinny arms. :)
