Do they just unscrew from the inside of the tub, or is there a special tool to remove them?

I went to turn one to open it and instead it unscrewed. Just for anyone who may see this post in the future, they do just unscrew using a pipe wrench or a strap wrench. I went ahead and took all of them out so I can clean them out really good. At least now I can get them all to spin freely.
