Clean DE grids?

Hi,
I have had a Pentair FNS plus filter for about 2 or 3 years now and never cleaned the grids. Is it about time to clean them and if so what is the best method? I saw some DE cleaner at Leslies but based on what I know its probably over priced and there is a much cheaper way to do it.

When I cleaned mine, all I had to do was rinse them down with a hose and that worked with no issues. I do not remember the last time they were cleaned, but when I got done they were nice and white.
