Right, weekly shocking is not neccessary in a properly chlorinated pool.

You can always upgrade the size of the filter without changing the pump/plumbing size...

Yup....unfortunately, the filter is brand spanking new (when we bought the house in November, the filter was cracked so my hubby bought the same model to replace it...before we found this site and "knew" what we were doing, LOL), so an upgraded one is not in the budget right now....sigh.

If you don't already use skimmer socks they can/will help you keep a lot of junk out of your filter.
