Fishing Spiders in Pool

We have lots of spiders in the skimmer and on top of the water. From what I have learned via research, they are fishing spiders. They are harmless and like pools to eat the little bugs that fall in the water.

Anyone else have these? If so, how did you get rid of them. Most family who use the pool don't care for them.

I wouldn't want them in there either.

It is said that putting borates in your pool water will keep insects and things from lasting too long in the water. This would stand to reason since boric acid is the active ingredient in many substances used to control insects.

I maintain 50ppm Borates in my pool and occasionally see those spiders in my pool too.

Not at all. If you'd like to add them, there is an article in Pool School that tells you how.

Borates can be toxic to your dog under certain conditions, as mentioned on this site. This is why I don't use them. You really do need to research this topic prior to adding borates.
