Way to tape-repair a pipe?

I have a pipe on my return side with a very slight leak at a fitting. It's where a 1 1/2" pipe meets another, at the joint. The leak is slight.. I'd say if it lost a cup of water a day, that's a lot.

Is there a way to seal this with some kind of tape? I've tried saturating the pipe in the blue wet PVC cement and it seems to help. but I still see water there occasionally.

I'd hate to have to replace this whole piece of pipe if there's something quick and easy I can do.

You can try about anything but most, if not all, won't work. In the long run, cutting out the bad joint and replacing perhaps the whole pipe is the best solution.

I've sucessfully repaired small drips on PVC pipe using 2 part epoxies you can buy at Home Depot and such. They make some specifically for wet applications, but I think almost all will work. The trick is to rough up the pipe surrounding the leak with a bit of sandpaper and then press the epoxy into it and around the pipe.

Blow out and seal the line first. Any water there will likely interfere with the bond and seal. There are some underwater glues but I don't trust them yet, least of all in a pressure application.

Magic Wrap from Lowes closed a gushing 1.5" PVC drain line- no lie. Pipe was not under water

Rubber cement will work as well. As long as its not dripping water while the cement dries. I would recoat it a couple times to be sure, But it has worked for me in the past for temp fixes.

I ended up using some of the 2-part epoxy specifically for plastics and wet applications. It works! No more leak, no more bubbles.
