drain retrofit for pool and spa

We are renovating our pool and spa and would like to put in Virginia Graeme Baker drain covers. The pool company wants $300 for each of the pool and spa. This seems pretty steep for covers. Has anyone else replaced theirs and have recommendations on types of covers and costs?

How big and how many? Might make sense to supply your own. They are obligated to install them.

We need one for the spa and one for the pool. I don't know much about them...not sure about the size. Do they interfere with the polaris?

Take a pic of the spa drain and main drain covers. If they are the same, the spa drain will do. Post a link to the pic if it's large. Photobucket accounts are free.

It doesn't seem excessive to me. As stated they are required to make the pool VGB compliant if they are working on the rest of the pool. There is a lot that goes into VGB compliance other than changing a cover. Hydraulic calculations, pump curves, sump pit verification, documentation, etc. Not that you couldn't handle all of this yourself but if they are going to certify your pool to be VGB compliant, $600 is a small price to pay as they will own the liability if anything happens and there is an issue with VGB compliance.

If he's renovating, the pool is empty. If they are adding a second drain pot to the 1st, I could see it as reasonable. If they are just swapping the covers, which is what he said, that isn't a reasonable number to charge.
