Question about circ pump and winter mode

Pretty new to the hot tub world. We have a Garden Leisure hot tub with a circ pump that runs 24/7. Installed it 3 months ago and just did a water change. When we turned power on after refilling, everything seems to be working as before except that the display indicates Smart Winter mode is on. All refernece material I can find online is pretty useless, just indicates that in this mode the pumps will activate every two hours when the ambient temp is less than a certain amount.

My question: is it necessary to have this function activated if we have a circ pump that runs 24/7??

Hi there, welcome to TFP

I believe that the pumps are running water actively thru the jets which is more than just the circulation aspect. Keeps things from freezing.
