Jandy LXI Heater - Issue with Power

Tried to heat the spa the other night and realized there was no power on the heater display (eventhough the rest of the pool equipment was working fine). Cut the power to everything and opened the heater panel and noticed burn marks on the power distribution board.

Bought a replacement, hooked it up, turned on the power and “POP” another burnt power distribution board.

What gives? Is the assumption now that it is a transformer issue?

Thanks for any insight.

I think you need to carefully examine the wiring in the heater. Critters have been known to get inside heaters and chew wiring up.

Then get a voltmeter and begin checking the wiring and voltages. Usually there is a wiring diagram on the door. Manual is at http://www.poolcenter.com/medias/pdf/MP_3540/jandy_heaters_LXI_manual.pdf and wiring diagram is on page 23. See page 44 for expected voltages.

Thank you sir. Wiring looks good based on initial inspection. Will check voltage.

Any other thoughts?

Closing the loop for others who may have a similar issue in the future. Followed the troubleshooting guide for voltage and it lead me to the transformer. I replaced that and the burnt out power distribution board and I’m back in business.

Thanks all for the replies.
