What is this for? an extra opening my pool I don't know.

Here is a photo of a part of my plumbing I have no idea what it is for. It is next to one of my returns in the middle of the pool. Ideas? Thanks.

Probably for a vacuum? Is there piping for a booster motor? Just guessing

Next to and slightly lower than the other jets? I have one like that. Mine is a pressure side vacuum port. I don't have a vacuum, so it stays plugged.

Cullebo, I have only the one pump motor. It's about a foot away from a return jet, same height. Just curious as to what it's for, since I am not the original owner and have no paperwork for anything on this pool. And this is my first time owning and taking care of a pool, steep learning curve. Thanks for any advice.
