Optimum CYA Level

I’m in Arizona with a 13,500 gal Pebble Sheen liquid chlorine pool. I was operating with a CYA level of 80 keeping Cl levels between 6 and 10. I rechecked my CYA yesterday and it had fallen to 60. Do I drop my Cl range to 5-9 or raise the CYA back to 80?

Raise the CYA back up.

You will likely find the CYA will drop 5-10ppm each month to degradation in the heat of summer here.

Oh, do you not have a SWG? If not, then keep the CYA where it is might be fine with the lower FC levels.

You can run with the lower CYA. See if you consume more chlorine each day. UV impact on the pool surface is reducing and thus your chlorine consumption should also be reducing.
