Polaris B4-60 booster pump

My issue booster pump just hums, no movement from cleaner
Lightening busted old filter and we replaced. Booster pump working fine at this point. Another severe storm next day and now booster pump just hums. Is there some way I can troubleshoot pump and rebuild before buying a new pump? Thanks

Pump failures are often the start capacitor which is under the bump on the top of the pump. How To Select the Right Capacitor For Your Pool Pump Motor - INYOPools.com

Yes, I'd check the capacitor first. A descent multi-meter will have a setting that is capable of checking a capacitor. Otherwise, a local appliance parts house could check it for you as to whether it is good or bad. Sounds like a bad capacitor though.....
