Test Results and action

OK, one more question please. We had some pretty good rains in the Houston area last week and although I could swear I kept my clorine level up I still ended up with algae. I've been shocking for 3 days and my test last night showed 19.5 and this morning it showed the same with no CC. Does that mean the algae is dead now and it just needs to get filtered out? If that's the case, should I add some clarifier maybe? I have some of the Leslies clarifier if I need to use it. My CYA was around 45 before the rains so I need to have it tested again, and I do keep one puck in the floater all the time. I find with backwashing and splash out this has kept my CYA level pretty solid all summer.

If you have already the clarifier I suppose you can try it.

Yes, usually the FC holding overnight means the algae is dead and the filter just needs to clear it. What color is the water now?

It was still a little green yesterday, I couldn't tell the color in the dark this morning but i will take a look this afternoon. If it has a green tint does that mean the algae is possibly still alive?
