Sand pump spilling sand in pool

Is it normal for there to be some sand in my pool? I don’t remember this happening last year! It’s not a ton, but still, I clean the pool, backwash the filter and within a couple days, there is another little pile of sand at the bottom. [emoji848]

Before we worry about anything wrong in the filter, are you rinsing long enough after backwash? Most owners probably give their pump an additional 30 seconds to a minute on "rinse" after the sight glass goes clear to ensure everything is clean before going back to filter mode.

By the way, it looks like you need to update your signature with the new filter. It shows "cartridge".

Oh no! I thought I changed that! Thanks!
I probably only have been giving it about 30 seconds. How long should I be doing it for? I just feel like I lose so much water when I’m backwashing/rinsing![emoji30]
