Possible damage to pool masonry... pics... help

Okay

So our newly rennovated pool has been wet for 4 weeks & 2 days. Basically, after 2 weeks & 2 days of water in the pool, he dumped in 550 pounds of salt. After 2 weeks, I checked the pool water with the TFP-100 test kit and some salt test strips and found the glaring error. I have drained off half the pool and gotten the salt level down to 3,100ppm.

I am now noticing an apparent "leeching" of the masonry on the oklahoma flagstone on our submerged decking/seats. Here is a pic of our tanning seat with its dark brown grout.....[attachment=1:24k4sp6a]IMG_0842-3.jpg[/attachment:24k4sp6a]

Am I correct to hope that they simply didn't seal the love seat masonry or do you think something worse is going on here resulting from the poor care he gave during the pool break-in

By the way, I use the TFP-100 test kit and all the pool chemistry is as recommended by this board.

I cannot tell from the pictures what is submerged and what is not. Provide a little more explanation of that green blob in the top photo as well as the rest of the grout (tell us what's underwater) and maybe we can help more. (what's that little circle for?)

LOL!!!! My apologies... you see what happens when you use good chemical to test/treat your water, it becomes too clear.

The entire "seats" are under1-1.5 feet of water. They are "ledges" and allow you to sit in the water and hold an adult beverage without your arm getting wet . The circle is PVC pipe that is submerged to allow an umbrella to be placed for shade. The little green blob is a leaf that is floating in the water.

So, the grout/OK flagstone are all submerged underwater and you can see the obvious difference in color between the two.

In the first picture, I am standing on the ok flagstone coping, the rest is underwater.

In the second picture, I placed the broom handle on the flagstone coping, the rest is underwater.

So, it looks like one ledge is leaching grout color but the other is not....is that correct?

The odd thing is that I wouldn't have assumed that to be possible in 4 weeks of water in the pool. :grrrr:

So, if one ledge is leaching and the other isn't, it's certainly not a pool water condition but rather an "oops" with the tile mason....is that what you're thinking?

While I've never seen or heard of the color leaching out of the grout, I think it's an issue for the PB to correct.

That was my thought, but,...... the PB.... has quit... LOL! Believe it or not, he waves the white flag and admits his inability to correct all problems (the list is quite long).... He has agreed (as of last night) that he is on the hook financially and will pay an outside company to fix all issues associated with his mess.

I am saving that email in a vault....

Sigh... the things we go through to have an outdoor oasis.

That's not all bad if he comes through for you. Better to have a specialist who can really fix the problem(s). My builder got around my complaints by... total silence. (He'd already been paid. Why should he respond to my voice mails?) heh heh.
