New Plaster Problem

Sep 4, 2009

I've got plaster that's a few weeks old that's starting to develop calcium scaling.

I've been using a nylon brush, but would using a stainless brush do a better job cleaning the walls?

Also, should I be using some type of chelate to help disolve the scales?

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to TFP.

Certainly a stainless brush would be better. Calcium scaling is a chemistry issue. You need to test the water or have it tested. Calcium hardness, pH and TA are critical. Problems with these may void your warranty.

Hey DoinTime and welcome to the forum

Have you seen the article for start-up of plaster pools? This is a guide. Don't do anything to void your warranty.

Keeping the pH under control and daily brushing are two major points with start-up.

If you post a full set of water test results, we could give more input.

What does your builder say about the problem?
