Is our main drain clogged?

We can’t see the bottom of our pool cuz it’s so green right now. Hoping to start the SLAM process this weekend. We cleaned up our sand filter but I’m worried the main drain is clogged. We blew air through the pipes and bubbles came out one of the skimmers but nothing else. How can you tell if the main drain is plugged and how can you best clear it out if it is?

Any help is much appreciated.

t,

Many older pools have their Main Drains connected into the bottom of the skimmer.. To use the Main Drain you need a floating diverter that sits below the skimmer basket..

Many, many pools don't have operating main drains and they all work just fine...

If you have two open pipes below your skimmer basket, then your main drain is most likely attached to one of them. The other (which will have suction when the pump is running) is connected to your pump...

Thanks,

Jim R.
