Thought Id start a diary on my pool build. We spent the summer talking with contractors and finally decided on a PBer that had built a friends pool. We have a smaller yard so we needed to maximize the space we have.

34 x 17 Shotcrete with stonescape mini pebble (either tahoe blue or aqua blue) The 17 ft wide is deceptive as the first 15 feet is pretty narrow
baja reef
17800 gallon pool
sand colored poured in place coping
2% color change decking with 4 ft diag score lines
Pentair DE FNS filter with backwash
Pentair Variable Speed VF pump
Penair Inteliclor SWG
Pentair 40,000 btu heater
4 returns
Pentair Pool Shark
back will have 18 inch high bond beam with 3 18 inch sheer decent water falls- wisperflo pump-virginia stone veneers
400 sq ft. Heliocol solar heater
pentair intelitouch 8 with in house remote
7 ft spa with 8 anzio jets

Demo begins tommarrow. Ill post pictures. It should take 90 days in Southern CA the OC.

Now this sounds interesting... but what would a 2% change in deck color constitute? If my pool builder had offered this feature, I'm sure he would have had the salesman call to recommend upgrading (to the deluxe 4.5% color change) for an additional $1975.00 -- "and we'll eat the labor!"

Look forward to those pictures!

Re: Pool Build Diary

Lol- our pool builder says that more than 2% is too much contrast. When speaking with many of the PB guys they sure did try some of those sales tatics.

Ill get the demo pics up in a day or two.

Pool diary part 2 with picture- actual update

Slow going, but we knew that. Our PB is known to be very slow but does quality work for a good price. 2 months and we are working on the rough plumb and heading toward shotcrete.
Demo took 2 weeks
dig took a week (deep end dig and we hit water)
steel was subed out and took a day : )
and the plumbing is 1/2 done and about three days into it.

The contract says that "the pool will be substantially competed in 90 days" 60 days into it and we still have a lot to do.

attached you'll find a link to the pool pictures thus far
