Internet business

I'm thinking of starting an internet business. What do I need to do to establish a website? I will also want to sell my product through the site. How much is involved in setting up the site to accept credit card payments? Could I use a Pay-Pal account?
Thanks

Websites are pretty easy, so is adding a Paypal or credit card feature, even for someone with mainly basic computer skills like myself (I've done a few websites). Just do your homework on your choice for the hosting service, some are better than others (you get what you pay for). I had a friend do a website with a paypal feature and she said that portion took all of 5 minutes to add. One website I had was hosted by Startlogic and it was over $100 a year, I forget exactly how much.

Do you know how to design a website or do you plan to have someone design it for you? Some of the hosting sites have design templates too, if you aren't looking for anything too fancy.

I recently completed our website that is used for flying information. http://www.enotam.net. The host is http://www.homestead.com. I think my costs are around $7 a month. I'm not selling anything...but I do use a PayPal "Donate" link. Paypal is easy to set up and has many options available. Building a website is not hard...just time consuming...but that depends on how detailed you are. Homestead also offers templates for store fronts (retail sales, etc). They also have a very active Forum for their members.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm currently checking out the Homestead site. They are currently offering a 30 day free trial.
I want to get some more opinions on this before going any farther. Any and all input will be welcome. Thanks again. :-D

I typically don't get into web hosting discussions, for pretty much the same reasons I don't get into pool care discussions with office peeps, but ya might want to take a look at http://www.site5.com

I used to switch hosting companies as often as I change my socks.

Been with site5 for 4 or 5 years now.
