Add bleach to the skimmer

Is there a problem adding bleach into the pool by pouring it into the skimmer? Is it better to do it that way or to add it by one of the return jets? Just was wondering. I don't see what it would hurt but then I don't want to cause any problems if it will damage something. Thanks.

I prefer to add bleach in front of a return jet with the pump running. In theory you can cause damage to the pump seal or heat exchanger if you add bleach too quickly through the skimmer. However, this almost never occurs in practice, so it is actually fine.

Thanks. I thought as much but was wanting to know more. I add in front of a return jet in the shallow end that points to the deep end. Seems to work well.
