Pool filter won't stay on

My husband backwashed the system this morning and now he can't get the filter to stay on. The filter fills up with water, it clicks on and then the water empties out. We have the Aqua Logic and Hayward system salt pool

Sounds like the pump is sucking air from someplace. Check all the connections and possible points that air can enter the system. Make sure the water level is up high enough in the skimmer.

Is the breaker tripping? Or do you know what is turning off?

Backwashing shouldn't effect the pump's operation, unless an electrical connection got soaked in the process.

Were any suction valves closed and not reopened?

Any chance of getting a pic of your pump and filter?
