Plaster pools surface choices - pros & cons

We are about to put plaster on our new pool. We can't afford the pebble-type enhancements. Are there any other choices beside the traditional "white plaster"? What is enhanced plaster? Will I be sorry for not spending the money now on the pebble, quartz etc. options?

I know you can add color to the plaster for not that much more $$. That may be worth looking into. Same plaster, different color.

I think we paid little to nothing for our colored plaster and we are very happy with it. I believe it was called "medium grey." But I don't know anything about the pebble or other enhancements.
