Hayward Pump Specs

Aloha all. I got a Hayward Super 2 Pump without the motor and the specs say that it can take from 1/2hp up to a 3 hp motor. Although 1/2 to 3 hp is a lot of difference, I do not see what pumping GPM will change if it is the same pump. (obviously a 1/2 motor may be straining to maintain 3450 rpm, but I do not see a 3 hp motor pumping even double the GPM, let alone the 6x difference in size. Can someone explain? thanks

go to haywards web site and look at the parts sheet for those pumps and you`ll see what is differant about each one.IM not positive on the super pump. BUT their power flo pumps just use a differant size impeller to go with the differant size motor hope it helps some.
