Straight pipe run to pump

I am installing my pump for my new pool. Local code requires 4x the diameter pipe of straight run into the suction side of the pump. My question is whether a praher union would count as straight run. My pad is small and it would be nice if the space the union takes would go towards my straight run

I would think that, as long as the water is going straight, the total length counts.

However, I'm not sure. You're probably going to need to check with the inspector.

okay thanks. it really wouldn't make any sense for it not to count but who knows. I'm installing this weekend so I guess ill just have to play it safe
