L700C Vita spa heater question

So I replaced the heater last year and it failed within a year. I went to replace it this year and the E2400-0127ETX seems to be out of stock pretty much everywhere. Has anyone had experience with using other parts to heat with?

The tub is pretty old, and definitely has seen use, not by our family but previous owners. When do we decide to sunset this thing and get the next best thing?

I would think it is time to replace when the seasonal costs to repair it out paces what it would cost to replace it. Kind of like a car only on a smaller scale.
