    Trouble using the vacuum

I finally have everything under control in my pool and confident on keeping it clear water bt I am struggling with getting my vacuum to work. I start out by putting the head into the water and slowly submerging the tube to get it full of water. I then hook it up to my pool pump through the skimmer box. I just cannot get the gun in the bottom to suck up. There is plenty of pressure when the pump is running for the filter.
I bought a new hose and new skimmer box and hookup for the vacuum.

    Am I missing something?

Try sticking the pipe over the front of the return jet that will make sure it's full of water with no air.

Also make sure your DE filter is not too dirty. It takes a little more oomf to run a vacuum than to just filter water. When my DE filter has a psi rise of more than 6 above normal, it doesn't have enough power to suck efficiently. It will still filter o.k. at that level though. When I have just cleaned and replaced the DE there is nothing that vacuum won't suck up!

    Good to know DE!

I recently cleaned my filter and it needed it bad. I was back flushing it 2 times a day and it was a pain. Now there is so much suction my wife floats around and goes in circles!

I am going to go try it now thanks all!

    I just finished vacuuming pool!

Thanks guys! The tube filling was fast and easy and I noticed half way through my water outlet slowed so I cleaned up the basket and back flushed and back to sucking. Thanks again my pool is no longer an embarrassment.
