Plumb it where the Polaris is receiving flow from the pump all the time. Set the pump to run at max rpm for a couple hours to cause the Polaris to operate then have the rpms drop to a low filtering speed.

I was was wondering if anyone has tried that.

F,

Welcome to TFP... a great place to find the answers to all your pool questions, whether you are ashamed of the city you live in or not... :shark:

I think the answer depends on how your pool is plumbed.. If you can run your skimmer and Polaris at the same time, then you can certainly use your idea and see how well it works..

On the other hand, if you are plugging your Polaris in the skimmer, or you have to turn a valve all the way to get your Polaris to work, then what you want to do is not a good idea...

Basically most of the time you want to be running your skimmer... You really only need to run the Polaris once or twice a week.

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.
