Our local health food store (14 Carrot Whole Foods) sells bulk citric acid for $2.55 per pound. :-D

Home brewing supply shops sometimes have it. I saw a 50 lbs bag (way too much) for $108, or $2.16/pound, at a local brewing supply shop. Smaller quantities cost more per pound, but the prices were still very reasonable.
