Jandy AquaPure "Sensor T"

I am having an intermittent issue with the sensor pack on my SWG. The sensor pack is not in the "Sensor" T. When I added solar to the pool, I re-plumbed with a 2x2x2 T with a reducer bushing, and didn't buy the 22$ PVC T.

The question is, do I need to use Jandy's T?

No, as long as the sensor is in the same place in relation to the cell (down stream of all equipment on the pad).
