Hi All, we are building our first pool and are looking for some advice. We are doing round freeform w/quartzite ledger stone around the spa and our contractor suggested continuing the stone down to the pool floor on the interior spa wall. Has anyone ever seen this done before?

Yes, I have seen the stone going into the pool.. I think it "looks" great, but I an not a fan.
There is a reason that tile is used at the waterline and it is not just because it looks pretty. Tile is relatively easy to clean, does not stain, and is not porous.
In my mind, having stone in the water is just a problem waiting to happen. But that is just my personal opinion... and you know what they say about opinions..
Every once in a while we see where people use natural stone on the sun shelf. It looks great but I don't know how it held up long term as they are not active any more
