Is this yellow algae or just regular type?

I see this in my pool (see attached photo). Starting SLAM but was wondering if this is yellow or regular algae.

Can you post up a complete set of test results? Preferably from your own test kit!

Whether mustard or regular the same applies, SLAM Process. You must know your CYA and then follow [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA].

+1 what Marty said....don't fret over what kind...start the SLAM and get it out of there. Don't forget, you need to brush A LOT during the SLAM and run your pump 24/7

I'm just about to begin a slam/mustard slam as well...my first ever. When running the pump 24/7, what minimum speed is recommended? Also, is it better to backwash my filter before or after the procedure?

With a VS pump, you may run it slowly. 1000 RPM or so.

You should backwash your filter when your pressure rises 25% above clean pressure.

Thanks Marty. +25% is my normal routine. I wasn't sure if there was any add'l requirement when dealing with algae removal.

No. But when the algae dies and is started to be filtered out, your pressure may rise fairly quickly. Depends on the algae outbreak.
