Cleaning Diffuser and Impeller

I am planning to replace my pump motor. When I do, I would like to thoroughly clean my diffuser and impeller and put in a new pump seal. Is there any recommended way to clean them?

I was thinking just soap and water with a cotton cloth.

Interesting question. I would not "clean" them with soap or water. I would more just wipe them down. You really don't want to remove any oil/grease, etc that helps keeps it moving. This is just my gut talking as I really don't know as I have not had to do it.
