How often or when to use Algaecide?

We have no problems with algae as it stands now (knock on wood!), but I wanted to know if we should use the algaecide that we have as a preventative measure? It's a real newbie question and I didn't wanna ask it, but I need to know. When we test our numbers are pretty good. This is week 4 as pool owners, so I think we're just WAITING for something to go wrong.

Would you suggest using it to prevent or just leaving things alone? Thanks for any and all insight. :goodjob:

Maintaining proper FC levels, never letting it drop below your "min" means never needing algaecide.

Sometimes, in certain specific situations, we recommend ONLY Polyquat 60. But those instances are rare. For a normal, everyday maintenance issue, algaecide isn't necessary.

Very good--thank you! That answered my question exactly.
