DE Filter question

We have a DE filter, model 1651-000, hooked up to a haward powerflow xl pump.

Untill recently the PSI guage was reading 13.

First, what should this filter run at for a normal level?

Second, today it started running at 17. And when I turn the pump off the pressure gauge does not drop to zero unless I tap it.

IS this an indication that the gauge itself is bad?

I tried back flushing out the system, but apparently it doesn't do any good as far as the PSI rating goes.

Any help apprecated. Thanks.

The pressure gauge is bad, you can choose to replace it or leave how it is. Pressure gauges break a lot, I usually don't rely on them and judge if the system is in need of cleaning if the return has reduced flow or throwing bubbles or if there is more air in the pump than usual
