I'm confused about CSI. As I understand it a negative number indicates a tendency to corrode while a positive number indicates a tendency to scale. With a plaster pool, wouldn't a positive number be more beneficial? My most recent CSI was -.056, and ideally should be higher. I don't get it, what am I missing?

Welcome to the forum!

With a plaster pool you need to keep your CSI between -0.6 and 0.6. Use PoolMath to calculate it.

Depending on your fill water you need to monitor CSI either often (like me with VERY hard water) or minimally if you have naturally soft water.

Hope that helps. Take care.
