Return Valve-Pool Devil/Pool Skim

I'm thinking about getting one of those Pool Devils or a Pool Skim, but before I ordered it I thought I should see if I can get that return valve eyeball looking deal to unscrew, which it doesn't do. So before I use the wrong tool and break the thing off I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on how to get it unscrewed?

As a side note, I only found one review of the Pool Devil, anyone else had luck with it? The Pool Skim looks better, but it's 5 times as much money.

I got one word for you. ChannelLocks! Be gentle but firm and it'll unscrew.

Okay, bear with me, I'm really not that handy, so all help is appreciated. That eyeball valve deal had two plastic tabs that stick out, do I grab one of those and try to turn? Put it over both tabs and turn? Or something completely different?

A picture would be nice but I'm going to say grab both tabs gently and try to turn it. Remember; righty tighty, lefty loosie! :lol:
