quick question: I have been reading how to use chlorine in the new spa and I am wondering why do we use dichlor until cya levels are at target? Why not just use cya by itself right from the get go and use my favorite chlorox bleach right away then too?

Because CYA typically comes in a 4-lb container, and in a typical spa you'd need only an ounce or two. In my spa, if I dump and refill 3x/year, a 4-lb tub would be enough for about 20 years. If you already have a tub of CYA lying around, go ahead, otherwise it's not worth it.
