Borates target of 75 instead of 50 ok?

I think I know the answer but will feel better bouncing it off you guys :)

I added 50 ppm borates last year. After closing and opening, I tested with strips and was down to what I'd call 25ppm, so added enough to get me back up to 50.

I'm thinking that next year when I add, I'll target 75 instead, as if I'm losing 25 over a season, this will leave me with closer to 50 at close/opening, when I could use the max algae prevention properties.

Any problems with this?

Thanks :)

If you drain water as part of closing for the winter you will lose a percentage of whatever you have in the water. The higher the level, the more you will lose. Borate levels up to 80 are safe enough, but above 50 is not considered useful.
