Hello! Getting Serious About The Pool...

^ Got the HTH 6-Way test kit, and a re-purposed tackle case to organize it all.

I was getting algae growth on bottom, with FAC level high. Shocked twice with no improvement. CYA was off the chart at +120 ppm.

After messing around a bit, I knew I needed to do something quick. I drained & replaced 1/2 the water.

Currently, CYA is 60, FAC is 1.7, pH is 7.4, TA is 90.

I am disposing of what's left of my tablets, and have pitched my test strips.

After getting these test results, I added 24oz of liquid chlorine, and plan on draining & replacing another 1/4 of the water (about 12") to get the CYA down a bit more.

TFP has already been a big help to me. I hope I can help someone else with what I have and will learn here!

You need to raise that FC level up fast or you're risking a full fledged algae outbreak. Here's our guidelines for matching CYA to FC --> [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]

Welcome to TFP, Gelid :) Love that avatar!

^ Thanks for the link to the chart! :)

Got things set pretty good for now, except calcium hardness, but I'm told that's not critical
due to this being an above-ground, vinyl-lined pool.
