what levels FC are safe to swim in?

We shocked at night to clear up the pool, and FC levels are currently at 8.5. When is it safe to let my kids swim. They are eager to get in, and I'm eager to let them so they are occupied and happy.

8.5 is fine. I read somewhere else that many public pools keep theirs at 10ppm

I let my kids swim at that. After my last shock I let them in at 10FC and they are still alive and well

Safe FC levels depend on your CYA level. Personally, I consider anything from the minimum up to shock level for your current CYA level, see the Chlorine/CYA Chart, to be fine.

Thanks all! Per the chart, its definitely under shock level FC level but over over target FC.
