Shock Level Question

Since I only have the 6 way tester how do I determine if I am maintaining shock level? I'm confused about how much bleach to add.

You can dilute your pool water sample with distilled water, then test the mixture to read higher chlorine levels. Mix 3 parts distilled water with one part pool water, test the mixture and multiply the reading by 4 to get your actual chlorine level. The accuracy is less than a pool water only test, but it's good enough for shocking.
