So - we need to seal our deck. They all say we have to wash it first with deck wash. Our problem is the deck is right on the pool. How do we keep the cleaner out of the pool? If we cover the pool, it will just fall in there when we take the cover off. Will it hurt if it gets in there? I"m guessing yes because of all the warnings on the bottle. However, the ingredients are very similar to pool chemicals - sodium hydrochlorite and sodium hydroxide.

Maybe I should just wash the deck with "shocking chlorine"!!!

What do you think?

Skip the deck wash and just use plain ol' bleach (or liquid chlorine). It is cheaper, and will not harm your pool! (just make sure you rinse dirt and stuff AWAY from the pool)

Edit: don't use STRAIGHT bleach... dilute it first!
