Plasma Tv trouble

We have a 42" Maxent Plasma Tv that has black line coming from the top of the TV running down to the middle. The line is about 1" wide and 10" long. Right now the line is coming and going but seems to be staying longer each time. Can anyone shed some light on what is wrong with it? I think the TV is about 4 yrs old
